What you can expect

  • We will meet the participants at the admission area of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria (MArRC), where we will begin a guided visit of the museum's collections. We'll start on the floor dedicated to prehistory to learn about the value of burials in telling the story of past civilizations. We will then delve into Greek colonization and the history of Magna Graecia, with a particular focus on the treasures of Locri. We will then enter Roman Reggio and approach the most eagerly awaited encounter: a visit to the famous Riace Bronzes, retracing the exciting stages of their discovery and admiring their extraordinary beauty up close.
The tour will then continue along the Falcomatà waterfront, known as the “most beautiful kilometer in Italy,” a true open-air museum. During the walk, we will admire historic buildings such as Villa Genoese Zerbi, and works of modern and contemporary art, including the striking sculptures by Rabarama.
We will continue our journey on foot to Piazza Duomo to learn about the connection between Reggio and St. Paul, and the works housed in the Cathedral. An itinerary full of emotions, ancient and recent stories. N.B. For morning tours, the order of the stops is reversed, starting with the Cathedral.
