It is a genuine and authentic program. It is an activity for those who want to get to know the Douro on the ground, in an exclusive program, getting to know one of the areas with the most incredible landscapes, and at the same time one of the Quintas with the most history, and with the best combination of food and wine. Away from the crowds, it's like feeling the real Douro wine region and learning a little about its history, as if you were at home, or with family.
The concentration and meeting point is at Quinta do Portal, close to Sabrosa, where we parked the cars, and met to start the program that begins with a circular walking tour of 7km, lasting around 2h30.
We walk to the wine-growing village of Provesende. A historic and small village in Douro valley, with a lot to tell. There are many reasons to photograph and stop. There are several emblazoned houses in the village, and it is the wine-growing landscape, the vineyards drawn on a postcard, spread across spectacular hills and valleys. It is a very pleasant convivial walk through dirt and wine-growing context. Afterwards, we arrived at the Quinta for a well-deserved lunch, very well served, with the best flavors and the best wines. And the activity ends with a visit to the cellar and aging cellars, to learn a little about the Port wine making process.
