What you can expect

Embark on a challenging and rewarding trek to the summit of Monte Tarn, one of the most iconic peaks in southern Patagonia. Depart from Punta Arenas and travel to the Río San Juan area, where your guide will provide background on the area's natural and historical significance.

Begin your hike through low-intervention trails surrounded by native forest. As you ascend, the trail becomes steeper and more technical, offering expanding views of the surrounding landscape.

Reach the summit of Monte Tarn, standing at 825 meters above sea level. Take a break for photos, snacks, and appreciation of the stunning scenery, including panoramic views of the Strait of Magellan, Dawson Island, and on clear days, even the Darwin Range in Tierra del Fuego.

Descend along the same path, taking extra care on slippery or steep sections. Return to Punta Arenas, having experienced an immersive journey through sub-Antarctic ecosystems and remote mountain landscapes.
