What you can expect

We'll start with a visit to Lampa, known as the Pink City, where time seems to stand still among its colonial streets and its imposing Santiago Apóstol Church, built in 1675 and declared a national monument. There, you'll discover the enigmatic catacombs and a replica of Michelangelo's “La Pietà,” details that make this place a true historical and cultural treasure.

The journey continues in Pucará, the birthplace of one of the oldest cultures in the highlands. In its Lithic Museum, travelers will have the opportunity to see unique archaeological pieces that testify to the grandeur of the Pucará culture, also recognized for its famous bulls that today symbolize prosperity and protection in Andean homes. To recharge your batteries, you'll enjoy a box lunch before continuing to your final destination.

The tour culminates in the impressive Tinajani Canyon, a little-known natural gem. Its gigantic rock formations, carved by millions of years of wind, rain, and snow, rise like stone guardians in a landscape that transmits peace and grandeur. Its reddish tones and the energy you can feel in this place make for a unique experience.

During the visit, we'll take a light walk of about 3 km (30 to 45 minutes). The trek starts at 4,010 meters above sea level, climbs to the viewpoint of the canyon at 4,110 meters above sea level (1.1 km), and continues to a descent of 4,130 meters above sea level (1.7 km). Then, we'll reach the emblematic Roca del Vigilante at 3,990 meters above sea level (2.6 km) and finish the circuit again at 4,010 meters above sea level after traveling 2.9 km. Then we'll head back to the city of Puno, arriving at 7:00 pm.

Here's the detailed itinerary:
• 7:45 am – 8:00 am: We'll pick you up at the hotel and head to the Pink City of Lampa.
• 10:30 am: Visit the Santiago Apóstol church, the catacombs, and the replica of “La Piedad.”
• 1:00 pm: Arrival in Pucará. Visit the Lithic Museum and have lunch.
• 3:00 pm: Trekking and a visit to the Tinajani Canyon.
• 4:30 pm: Head back to Puno. You'll arrive around 7:00 pm.

Important info:
• Altitude and physical conditions: During the tour, you'll be at an altitude close to 4,000 meters above sea level, with some points slightly exceeding this height. Some travelers may experience tiredness, shortness of breath, or headaches due to the altitude. We recommend getting acclimatized in Puno or another Andean city before the tour, staying hydrated, and walking at a leisurely pace.
• Payment methods: in some towns and tourist attractions, there's no access to ATMs and card payments aren't accepted. It's a good idea to bring cash in soles to cover extra expenses like tickets, souvenirs, food, or personal purchases.
• Minimum number of people: This tour doesn't run frequently and requires a minimum number of people to depart. Perfect for those looking for an authentic trip, away from the usual tourist routes.
