Activity itinerary

Trengereid
  • 1h
We were now on the road for just over half an hour, time for a quick stop. We stop at the lookout at Trengereid from where we have a fantastic view of The East Fjord and the island of Osterøy. There is also a small bakery and public toilets here. WE STAY HERE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, DRIVING TIME TO THE NEXT STOP IS ABOUT 35 MINUTES
Steinsdalsfossen
  • 1h
The Steinsdalsfossen waterfall near Norheimsund is spectacular. You can walk along the back of it without getting wet. Steinsdalsfossen was formed when the river sought a new course in 1699 and has a height of approx. 50 m. A path leads behind the waterfall so that you can get between the rock face and the water without getting wet, it is one of the most visited waterfalls in Norway. The tourist information and public toilets are located directly at the car park. A short path over an old stone arch bridge then leads you to the waterfall. If you like, you can also stop off at a cosy café located directly behind the bridge and listen to the rushing of the stream. WE WILL STAY HERE FOR ABOUT 25 MIN, DRIVING TIME TO THE NEXT STOP 10 MIN
Oystese
  • 1h 30m
We reach Øystese at around 12:15 pm. Here we will have our lunch break at Spildegarden Sider Farm. (incl.) The lounge here is very cozy and has a fireplace. From the farm you have a spectacular view of the Hardangerfjord. The farmer also sells his apple cider as well as some other products. WE STAY HERE FOR APP AN HOUR.
Hardanger Bridge (Pass by)
After a little less than an hour's drive, we reach the Hardanger Bridge. Before the bridge was completed in 2013, ferries ran every 20 to 60 minutes, the crossing took around 10 minutes. The bridge has a total length of 1,380 m and a height of 55 meters and was the longest bridge in Norway and 10th longest in the world when it opened. If the weather is nice, we can stop here after crossing the bridge to go to a viewpoint and take a few photos.
Hardanger Fjord (Pass by)
A picturesque drive along the Hardanger Fjord to Odda now awaits us. The fjord will now be close to our right the entire time. Apple and cherry orchards rise up to the left. There are always individual cottages to be seen, beautifully situated on the fjord. We drive through the small village of Kinsarvik. From here the ferry departs for Utne.
Lofthus
  • 1h 25m
PLEASE NOTE: FROM 1 MAY WE WILL BE STOPPING IN OODA AND NOT AT THE ULLENSVANG HOTEL Our journey then takes us further along the Hardanger Fjord, where you can marvel at the picturesque landscapes. We will then arrive at Hotel Ullensvang at around 15:15. Coffee or tea and a delicious Cake will be waiting for us. (included) Hotel Ullensvang was founded by 14-year-old Hans Utne. He was full of enthusiasm and bought a small plot of land on the banks of the fjord early on, where he built a boathouse that could be used as overnight accommodation for fjord travelers. The hotel was constantly expanded and is now one of the most beautiful hotels in Norway, picturesquely situated directly on the Hardanger Fjord. Norway's most famous composer Edvard Grieg spent many summers at Hardanger Fjord, both to relax and to compose. He found peace in a small hut that now stands in the garden of the hotel. WE STAY HERE FOR HALF AN HOUR, THE JOURNEY TO THE FERRY TAKES ABOUT 1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTES.
Odda (Pass by)
We head towards the outermost tip of the Hardanger Fjord, where the small town of Odda is located. Around 1900, the small town of Odda was the most popular destination for wealthy summer visitors, at times even the most visited place. In 1906, the Tyssedal hydroelectric power station was built to supply electricity to the carbide and cyanamide factories that were being built in the center of Odda. Odda thus became an industrial town and lost its appeal as a tourist destination for the time being. In recent years, however, this trend has been reversed and Odda is enjoying an increasing number of tourists every year. We only drive through this small town.
Jondal
  • 20m
The ferry from Jondal to Tørvikbygd departs at 17:20 on the dot. We cross the main arm of the Hardangerfjord here. There are toilets and a self-service café on the ferry. THE FERRY CROSSING TAKES 20 MINUTES.
Tørvikbygd
  • 1h 35m
At 17:40 the ferry docks in Tørvikbygd. From here, we make our way directly to Bergen.
Bergen (Pass by)
The drive back to Bergen takes ab about an hour and a half. Arrival at your Hotel in Bergen at around 19:15. In most restaurants in Bergen, the kitchen closes at 9 pm. So you still have enough time, to find a suitable place for your dinner. We can drop you off directly at your hotel, or at any other place in the city center if you wish. You had a wonderful day :-)
