What you can expect

Begin your journey with a quick stop in the charming town of Winchelsea, where you can stretch your legs and snap a photo of Barwon Park Mansion from the outside. Continue toward the coast via Colac or an inland route, depending on traffic and weather.

Marvel at the towering limestone stacks of the Twelve Apostles from the main viewing platform. Avoid the midday crowd by arriving a bit earlier or walking to quieter lookouts.

Next, head to Gibson Steps, where you can walk down to the beach and look up at the massive sea cliffs. Note that this is only accessible at low tide, so check tide times beforehand.

Take a short walk from Loch Ard Gorge car park to the Razorback and Tom and Eva Lookout. Admire the dramatic, sculpted sea cliffs and deep blue waters.

Visit Loch Ard Gorge, one of the most scenic and dramatic coastal spots. Learn about the Loch Ard shipwreck history and explore several walking trails if time permits.

Finally, enjoy a beautiful short walk through a cool temperate rainforest at Mait’s Rest. Follow an easy circuit along a wooden boardwalk through lush ferns and giant trees.
