Overview

  • See the Golden Circle and have lunch in a geothermal greenhouse on a private day from Reykjavik. Walk between two tectonic plates at Thingvellir National Park, watch Strokkur erupt at the Geysir geothermal area and feel the spray at Gullfoss waterfall. At Fridheimar farm, tomatoes grow year-round under geothermal heat and you have lunch among the plants. On the way back you stop at the colourful Kerid crater.

The day runs at your pace. Choose a sedan for 1-3 travellers or a van for up to 8.

Your guide collects you from your Reykjavik accommodation with a VAREN name tablet, helps with your luggage and has water on request.

Lunch at Fridheimar is included: tomato soup with freshly baked bread.

Activity itinerary

Reykjavik (Pass by)

Your private vehicle picks you up directly from your Reykjavík accommodation at the agreed time. No transfer, no assembly point — the tour starts from your front door. Pickup time will be confirmed 24 hours in advance.

Thingvellir National Park

  • 30m
  • Admission ticket not included
Walk the Mid-Atlantic Ridge — one of only two places on Earth where a tectonic rift is accessible on dry land. Here the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart at 2 cm per year, creating the dramatic Almannagjá gorge that frames your walk. Þingvellir is also the cradle of Icelandic democracy: the Alþing parliament first gathered here in 930 AD. Your private guide brings both stories to life with the context and detail a shared tour simply cannot afford.

Geysir

  • 40m
The English word "geyser" was born here, named after the ancient Great Geysir. Today its neighbour Strokkur is the reliable star — erupting every 5–8 minutes with a column of boiling water up to 30 metres high. Going private means your guide can position you at exactly the right spot before the next eruption. Explore the surrounding geothermal field at your leisure: bubbling mud pools, steaming vents, and mineral-stained earth in vivid oranges and yellows.

Gullfoss Waterfall

  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Iceland's most powerful waterfall sends the glacial Hvítá river cascading in two stages into a 32-metre canyon, creating a permanent mist and — on clear days — brilliant arching rainbows. In winter the edges freeze into cathedral-like formations of ice and the whole scene turns otherworldly. Take all the time you need on the viewing path. With a private tour there is no bus to catch and no group to wait for — just you and Gullfoss.

Fridheimar

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
A fourth-generation family farm growing tomatoes year-round in the Icelandic highlands using geothermal heat. Step inside the warm, vine-scented greenhouse and sit down for Fridheimar's legendary lunch: a rich, creamy tomato soup made from the morning's harvest, served with homemade bread and a non-alcoholic welcome drink. The farm also offers a Bloody Mary made with their own tomato mix — a Golden Circle tradition for those who appreciate it. Unhurried, delicious, and completely unique to Iceland.

Kerid Crater

  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Formed around 6,500 years ago when a magma chamber collapsed inward, Kerið is unlike any other crater on the Golden Circle. The caldera walls are layered in deep red and black volcanic rock streaked with green moss, dropping steeply to a vivid turquoise-green lake at the bottom. Walk the rim for panoramic views or take the path down to the water's edge. On certain summer evenings, musicians perform concerts here — floating on a boat on the lake — because the crater's acoustics are extraordinary.

Reykjavik (Pass by)

Your private vehicle drops you back directly at your Reykjavík accommodation. Estimated return time is early evening, depending on pace and stops during the day. No shared transfers — door to door, start to finish.
