Day 1. Meet in Cluj-Napoca. Short stop in Tihuța Pass (great viewpoint). Visit the stunning Vama Egg Museum, the well known Voroneț monastery (”the Sistine Chapel of the East”, with the famous Last Judgment fresco) and admire Sucevița monastery, perhaps the most impressive of Bucovina. Overnight in Sucevița.
Day 2. Stop on Palma Pass (beautiful scenery), visit Moldovița monastery, cross Ciocănești (the village with painted houses), climb Prislop Pass and enter in Maramureș. Visit a devilish mask maker from Săcel, a vegetal dyed rug maker from Botiza and see a mineral spring. Overnight in Botiza-Poienile Izei area.
Day 3. Visit beautiful Bârsana monastery, a wooden carving workshop, then the food market, Memorial of the Victims of the Communism and Elie Wiesel House from Sighetu Marmației. Admire the unique Merry Cemetery of Săpânța. Overnight in Sighetu Marmației.
Day 4. Visit the lovely Călinești old wooden church, see Sârbi watermills and an alcohol distillery, discover Breb village, stop at Budești optical illusion. Enjoy a traditional lunch. All over the place, meet craftspeople and traditional farmers at their homes or out on the fields, discovering the most conservative society of Europe, almost like the Amish.
Day 5. Visit Desești wooden church, Mara trout farm, Baia Mare medieval Sf. Stephen Tower and drop off in the afternoon at your hotel in Cluj-Napoca.
