What you can expect

Walking around Prato is like stepping into a city full of surprises, with unexpected twists and turns and a vibe that's way off the beaten path of mass tourism. On this experiential tour, I'll take you through the vibrant heart of Chinatown, a lively and authentic neighborhood where the scents of street food, colorful signs, and family-run shops tell stories of migration, work, and community every day. Not the usual postcard image of Tuscany, but a multicultural and contemporary side that few dare to explore.

From there, we'll head to a place that holds the city's industrial past: the former Anonima Calamai, a big textile complex from the early 1900s, now turned into a cultural hub. Walking through these buildings is like breathing in the working-class soul of Prato, with converted warehouses and details that still whisper tales of machines and fabrics. It's a rare example of living industrial archaeology, not just preserved, but reinvented.

Inside this space is Lanarchico, my artist's studio. Here, you won't just be a spectator, but a star: I'll guide you in picking up brushes and colors, and together we'll create a little masterpiece that you can take home with you. No experience needed: it's about letting your inner child run wild and finally unleashing that hidden artist inside you. As we paint, we'll share stories and creative ideas in a friendly vibe, made even more special with drinks served in the studio.

This tour is for those looking for something different: no crowded monuments or endless lines, just hidden spots, daily routines, and real conversations. I'll take you to places only locals know about, we'll try the crispy olive oil schiacciata from the last Italian bakery in the neighborhood, I'll share stories about the real life of Florentines and Prato locals, and I'll open the doors of my studio for you to become a real artist for a day.

It'll be an urban journey that mixes culture, history, and creativity: from the multicultural charm of Chinatown to the industrial archaeology of the former Anonima Calamai, and the fun, intimate experience of shared painting. A journey that brings out a different, more authentic, and less predictable side of Tuscany, leaving you surprised and with a lasting impression.

If you want to experience Prato not as a tourist, but as a curious and engaged traveler, this tour is just for you.

Less than 30 minutes by train from Florence, Prato is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered before mass tourism takes over.
After all, as a good friend of mine says, 'Prato is just like the Brooklyn of Florence.'
