Begin your journey along the iconic Great Ocean Road with an early visit to the Twelve Apostles, the crown jewel of the Shipwreck Coast. These towering limestone stacks rise dramatically from the Southern Ocean, shaped over millions of years by relentless wind and waves. After parking at the Twelve Apostles Visitor Centre, enjoy a relaxed walk along the boardwalk to multiple lookouts, capturing the coastal views and golden light. Spend around 45 minutes here taking photos and watching for seabirds or seals below.
Continue on to Port Campbell, the heart of the Shipwreck Coast. As part of the tour, we cover Loch Ard Gorge, the Razorback, and additional scenic viewing points at no extra cost, allowing you to experience the region’s rich shipwreck history and striking coastal formations. These stops offer dramatic cliffs, turquoise waters, and memorable viewpoints.
On private tours only and upon request, we can extend the journey further west to include London Arch, The Grotto, and the spectacular Bay of Islands. These quieter locations provide equally breathtaking scenery with fewer crowds. If not requested, the itinerary remains focused on Port Campbell and the Twelve Apostles area for a more relaxed pace.
From here, travel east along the Great Ocean Road toward the lush landscapes of the Great Otways National Park. As we pass through this region, we keep an eye out for wild koalas and kangaroos. Wildlife sightings depend on weather and natural conditions, as these animals live freely in the wild. We also pass through national park areas, enjoying rainforest and coastal scenery along the way.
Arrive in Apollo Bay for a comfortable lunch break, where you can enjoy a seaside café, takeaway, or a short walk along the beach to recharge before the return journey.
As we begin heading back toward Melbourne, the final stop of the day is chosen depending on timing. You can choose between a scenic stop at Split Point Lighthouse for sweeping coastal views, or a visit to a local chocolate factory for a relaxed and sweet experience. This decision is made on the day to suit your preferences and ensure a smooth return.
Enjoy the scenic drive back to Melbourne, passing coastal towns, ocean viewpoints, and forested landscapes. You’ll be returned to your original pickup or start location, completing a full-circle journey.
