Get to know the colonial city from a different perspective, with a focus on its artistic and cultural environment.
On this walking tour, which lasts about 2 hours, the idea is to learn a little more about the arts and crafts that have made Paraty such a special and welcoming place.
Our activity starts at Paraty's postcard, the Church of Santa Rita de Cássia. After this meeting, the guide will give a brief explanation about the tour, and we'll start by visiting the church, which is also a museum of sacred arts. Its collections include works from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, used in the region's churches during colonial times.
During the tour, we'll visit craft shops and independent studios that are part of the city's artistic identity. The idea is to get to know the creative process, supporting local businesses and strengthening local artists and producers. There's no obligation to buy anything, as the visits are focused on cultural experiences and contact with creators. The city has a strong tradition in papier-mâché, couchê, basketry, ceramics, painting, theater, and music.
Afterwards, we'll visit the Paraty House of Culture, a center for interpreting the local heritage.
We'll wrap up our tour on Rua do Comércio, where you'll find artisans of various techniques, including indigenous and quilombola people.
