What you can expect

  • Cultural immersion: Learn about Xeixa wheat, Blat Mort, Blat Mollar, and Blat Barba, the island's native grains. A journey through the history of Majorca via its wheat varieties. You will discover the nutritional properties of these grains and how they differ from modern wheats, as well as the importance of whole-grain flours in daily nutrition.
    Topics to be covered:

    • Types of traditional Mallorcan wheat: history, characteristics, and health benefits compared to modern wheat
    • Explanation of sourdough and its benefits in bread making
    • Types of flour. The importance of whole-grain flours
    • La Isla de la Xeixa (Xeixa Island)

    Hands-on baking: A 2-hour practical and sensory workshop in a relaxed, artisanal atmosphere at an authentic bakery in the heart of Palma
    You'll take home the bread you've made! A delicious souvenir of Mallorca.
