Your adventure begins at the Raftingbase at Dorfstraße 7 in Sautens. Here, you can conveniently park your car and check in at the counter. Before setting off, you can refresh yourself with a free coffee or tea. Afterwards, your guide will explain the most important information about the tour during a short safety briefing. All you need is swimwear – we will provide you with all the gear, such as a wetsuit, shoes, helmet, harness, and headlamp. You can securely store valuables with us.
As soon as everyone is equipped, an approximately 15-minute transport will take you to the entrance to the cave on the Amberg, right at the entrance to the Ötztal. Then the real adventure begins: You descend into the mysterious cave and follow a sloping tunnel that leads you deeper and deeper into the interior of the mountain at a 45-degree angle. You can get wet up to your knees, and there is no light here except for the headlamp.
During the approximately 1.5-hour excursion, you will learn fascinating facts about the history of the Amberg. Towards the end of World War II, the world's largest wind tunnel for aircraft construction was planned here. With the help of hydropower, wind speeds of up to Mach 1 were to be generated in the massive shafts. Today, you will discover these fascinating tunnels in a completely different way – as an adventure trip.
At the exit, you will be picked up again and taken back to the base. There you can take a warm shower and let the day come to a relaxing end. We will be happy to order pizza on request.
