Japan's national sport, up close and fully explained. This 90-minute live sumo show takes place in a dedicated venue in central Osaka, 1 minute from Sakaisuji-Hommachi Station and one subway stop from Shinsaibashi. It's easy to pair with shopping or dinner in Shinsaibashi, Dotonbori or Namba.
Your English-speaking MC starts with the essentials: how sumo began as a Shinto ritual 1,500 years ago, why wrestlers throw salt and stomp, and how to watch a bout like a Japanese fan. Then the wrestlers take the ring. Watch the pre-bout rituals and the explosive initial charge, followed by full-power bouts just a few meters away. The MC breaks down each move as it happens, so first-timers know exactly what they're watching.
Next comes a Q&A, where you can ask the wrestlers what they eat, how they train or how much they weigh. After the show, every group takes a photo with the wrestlers.
Want to get in the ring yourself? With the Ring Challenge Package, you'll put on a sumo belt [over your clothes], do the salt-throwing ritual and try to push a real wrestler out of the ring. It's safe, hilarious, and the photo everyone back home will ask about. Spots are limited to 6 per show.
Great for families, friends, couples and solo travelers.
