Overview

Visit Ometepe Island on a full-day trip from Granada. Spend a day familiarizing yourself with the island's nature, hospitality, beautiful landscapes, volcanoes, archeological background, relaxing beaches, and natural reserves and forests.

After you are picked-up from your hotel, you'll be transferred to the ferry that takes you to the island. Learn about how the 2 volcanoes, Concepción and Maderas, created this island which is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. We visit some of the highlights including but not limited to petroglyphs, ceramics, beaches and nature.

Observe locals taking part in the island's economy of fishing and agriculture. Keep your eyes peeled to see if you can spot some of the varieties of monkeys living on the island. You may choose to check out the shops, eat a traditional meal, hike or simply relax on the beach.

Pre-Columbians statues, as well as petroglyphs and other cave arts are found on Ometepe. The experts think it was a type of aboriginal sanctuary for the different rock humps and pieces of ceramic were found, looking as ceremonial centers. They say those statues were sculpted by chorotegas, an indigenous community, at the beginning of the century (800 to 1,350 after J-C). Those statues are made up of black basalt, a very hard material.
Playa Santo Domingo

The next stop is Playa Santo Domingo, where the tourist can relax, take a swim and have a delicious lunch at the lake shores in a local restaurant. White sand beaches characterize Playa Santo Domingo, the beach offers panoramic views of Lake Nicaragua and Ometepe Island.
