What you can expect

Ohlsdorf Cemetery is much more than just a cemetery. It's Hamburg's largest green space and the largest park cemetery in the world. It has a history of over 140 years, and you can walk through it like an open history book.

We'll meet on the cemetery side of the main entrance at Fuhlsbüttler Straße 756. From there, we'll explore a part of the 398-hectare site on foot for 1.5 hours (possibly a little longer).

The tour topics can be customized to suit your wishes. Usually, the tour ends near the main entrance. Depending on the wishes of the participants, the return journey can also be made with one of the two HVV bus lines that run through the cemetery.

Along the way, we can discover over 100-year-old angel sculptures, mausoleums, and the magnificent tombs of rich Hamburg merchant families or visit prominent Hamburgers. Other tour topics can include tomb symbolism, burial culture, archaeological sites in the cemetery, or even art, botany, or nature conservation, depending on your individual wishes.
