Meet your guide at the very end of Stara Novalja, near the former ferry pier Drljanda. Begin your hike with an ascent along a gravel road, offering stunning views of the island of Rab and the Velebit Channel.
Continue with a descent to Veliki Svetojanj Bay, from where there is a view of the fortress bearing the same name. Svetojanj is a Byzantine fortress dating back to the 6th century, a testament to the strategic importance of this area during the Eastern Roman Empire.
After climbing to the top of the fortress, proceed toward the secluded beach of Lusk, where a short rest and swim are possible. The next stop is a scenic viewpoint overlooking the fortress, the majestic Velebit Mountain, and the channel below.
Continue to the Svetojašnica watering hole—one of the few preserved water sources on the island of Pag—which has long provided life-sustaining water for the island’s sheep. From there starts the return to the starting point in Stara Novalja.
