It is also famous as the Peak 29 or with other names like Dakura or Dakum. The locals call it the ‘ Dunapurna’. The word ‘Dunapurna’ came from two Sanskrit words; ‘duna’ and ‘purna’. ‘Duna’ means plates prepared out of leaves and, ‘purna’ means ‘goddess’ So, the mountain is considered the ‘leaf plate for goddess’ among the locals.
