What you can expect

  • Step into Nashville history on a guided tour of Two Rivers Mansion and the 1802 House. This one-hour experience is led by the site’s Education & Tour team, who share the story of the property and the three generations of the McGavock family who called it home.

You’ll enjoy a more engaging visit than a standard walk-through. Your guide can tailor the interpretation to the group’s interests, invite discussion, and make time for questions—so you leave with a deeper understanding of the mansion’s past, the people who lived here, and how the property evolved over time.

As you move through the historic spaces, expect thoughtful storytelling, context about daily life across generations, and insights into the site’s preservation and significance. Whether you’re a first-time visitor to Nashville or a local looking to connect with the city’s heritage, this tour offers a focused, educational way to experience one of the area’s historic landmarks.

Please arrive 5–10 minutes early and meet on the front porch to check in and begin your tour on time.
