What you can expect

Learn to make udon noodles from scratch at a popular udon restaurant in Nara. Measure domestic wheat, mix it with water, knead it, and step on it to make it firm. Stretch the dough and cut it with a knife, with professional craftsmen providing careful support for each participant.

Learn how to make tempura, including how to make the batter and determine the temperature of the oil. Top your udon with freshly fried tempura. Learn how to make dashi and how to combine condiments, and enjoy your finished udon in the store.

After the experience, you can also order additional seasonal dishes and sake from Nara Prefecture. All aprons and tools are provided, and hygiene is thoroughly managed. The experience is held in small groups and requires a reservation, making it ideal for family trips, groups, and creating memories with overseas guests.

The experience is available in English and Chinese, and photography is welcome. The experience flow is as follows: ① Explanation and demonstration of the process by craftsmen, ② Mixing of flour and water, ③ Kneading and stepping to make it elastic, ④ Stretching evenly on a rolling board, ⑤ Cutting with a knife, ⑥ Cooking tempura of seasonal vegetables and shrimp, ⑦ Serving and eating.

You can choose between hot and cold, and you can add toppings such as hot spring eggs, green onions, grated daikon radish, and tempura batter. The dashi is fragrant with the umami of kelp and bonito, enhancing the freshly made udon. Safety measures such as oil splash prevention and fire management are also carefully guided.

You can participate empty-handed if you wear comfortable clothes, and it will be held even in rainy weather. Advance reservations are smooth. The store is easily accessible in Nara City, regardless of the season or weather. Vegetarian options and adjustments to spiciness can be discussed to the extent possible. Please refrain from participating if you have a wheat allergy.
