Established in 1880, the park is one of the oldest in Japan and is home to some of the country's most iconic cultural and natural sites. The park is particularly well-known for its free-roaming deer, considered sacred messengers of the Shinto gods. Visitors can buy "shika senbei" (deer crackers) to feed them, and the deer have learned to bow to people in exchange for food, making the experience especially charming.
