To understand Naples, you have to live it, and the best way to get into Neapolitan culture is to wander the alleys and eat with the locals. Our meeting starts near the Toledo Metro with a guided tour of the authentic alleys that, until a few years ago, were dangerous and forbidden, among streets full of history, including the former red light district, once forbidden and mysterious.
The tour continues in the Spanish Quarters, where we'll have lunch in a “vascio” (“basso”), a typical ground-floor house overlooking the street, where a grandmother will prepare a very hearty typical Neapolitan lunch in front of you, consisting of a first course of pasta, two main courses, two side dishes, dessert, and coffee. Wine and soft drinks are of course included! While we have lunch together, you'll hear stories about the family, the alley, and the neighborhood. You'll hear stories about the Neapolitan femminielli, the ancient votive shrines, and the “munaciello,” the benevolent spirit that still wanders the old houses of the Spanish Quarter! There will be musical surprises to make your authentically Neapolitan moment memorable!
Guests appreciate this experience for its authenticity and uniqueness. We want to offer an authentic and ethical experience, far from the tourist traps and approaches that see visitors only as numbers to be exploited. Our goal is to convey the true Neapolitan spirit, the one that loves to share culture, traditions, and human warmth with those who visit our city.
