Overview

  • Follow one of the most powerful stories in Japan’s Christian history, from martyrdom and persecution to the survival and rediscovery of faith. Begin at Nishizaka, where the Twenty-Six Martyrs were executed in 1597, and explore the history of Christianity’s arrival in Japan, the centuries of suppression that followed, and the believers who continued their faith in secret. With the Oura Cathedral option, the story continues to the church where Hidden Christians revealed themselves in 1865. Rather than treating these sites as separate landmarks, your guide connects them as chapters of the same story—one of sacrifice, endurance, and faith preserved across generations.
