Xochimilco: A Magical Journey on a “Trajinera”
Vibrant colors, tempting aromas, and deep history intertwine to offer you an unforgettable experience in Xochimilco. Aboard a trajinera, a traditional boat, you'll sail through the canals that were once part of the network of lakes surrounding the great Tenochtitlán. All around you, you'll witness a unique visual spectacle: the chinampas, ancient floating gardens that are still cultivated with care. Feel the vibrant energy of this unique cultural heritage, enjoy a tequila tasting, and try the typical dishes prepared along the way. At the end, visit the traditional craft market.
Coyoacán's bohemian charm
Don't miss this picturesque neighborhood known for its cobbled streets, colonial houses, and bohemian atmosphere. It offers a mix of history, art, and culture, with charming squares, traditional markets, and cafés. In your free time, visit the local market and try traditional Mexican sweets, or if you want, check out the exterior of the Frida Kahlo museum (admission not included).
University City
Seeing the Rectory and the University Olympic Stadium in Ciudad Universitaria is an unmissable cultural and historical experience. The Rectory, with the iconic mural by David Alfaro Siqueiros 'The People to the University, the University to the People', reflects the social and educational spirit of Mexico. Just a few steps away, the University Olympic Stadium, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands out for its imposing architecture and Diego Rivera's mural 'University, Family, and Sport in Mexico'. Both sites celebrate the art, history, and legacy of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
