Your journey begins at the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai, where your guide will introduce you to the fascinating history of this historic monument. You’ll also explore the nearby landmarks, including the magnificent Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and enjoy beautiful views of the Arabian Sea.

From the Gateway of India, your guide will arrange the ferry tickets and accompany you on the scenic boat ride to Elephanta Island. The ferry journey takes approximately one hour, depending on the tide. As you cruise across the Arabian Sea, you’ll pass impressive cargo ships, crude oil tankers, bulk carriers, cruise vessels, a Coast Guard station, and several smaller islands, making the journey an attraction in itself.

Upon arrival at Elephanta Island, you’ll board a charming toy train that takes just a couple of minutes to reach the island’s entrance. From there, you’ll walk through a lively market lined with stalls selling local handicrafts, souvenirs, hats, snacks, and refreshments. Along the way, you may also encounter the island’s friendly residents, including monkeys, cows, dogs, and a variety of local wildlife. Clean Western-style restrooms are available near the entrance to the caves.

To reach the UNESCO World Heritage caves, you’ll climb approximately 120 steps. Your entrance tickets are included in the tour, and you’ll be introduced to an experienced local guide who specializes in the history of the Elephanta Caves.
