What you can expect

  • Departing from Fukuoka, enjoy a full-day journey deep into the natural heart of Kyushu, exploring three iconic landscapes: volcanoes, grasslands, and gorges.

    1. Mt. Aso (Approx. 30 mins)
      A highly active volcanic wonderland in Japan! Standing on the observation deck, you can gaze closely at the smoking crater, witness the surging energy deep within the earth, and feel the overwhelming shock and awe.

    Important Notes
    Due to the recent helicopter accident at Mount Aso, the area is currently under traffic‑control restrictions. Guests can only view Mount Aso from a distance. The guide will arrange the visiting time based on on‑site conditions. Please book cautiously if Mount Aso is your main point of interest.

    1. Mt. Aso Volcano Museum + Kusasenri (Approx. 60 mins)
      You may choose to visit the Mt. Aso Volcano Museum to learn about volcanic formation and eruptions. Afterwards, head to Kusasenri, where you can stroll across the vast green grasslands and enjoy scenic views of pastoral landscapes set against the volcano. You may also purchase a light meal at your own expense and relax amidst nature.

    2. Manai Falls + Takachiho Gorge Boat Pier + Takachiho Gorge (Optional Boat Ride / Approx. 60 mins)
      Important Notes :Each boat accommodates a maximum of 3 guests. Solo travelers share the boat with other guests, we appreciate your understanding.
      Step into Takachiho Gorge, often referred to as one of Japan’s “hidden gems.” The gorge is lined with dramatic basalt cliffs formed by ancient volcanic eruptions, standing steep and majestic on both sides. At its center, Manai Falls cascades gracefully from above, resembling a flowing, misty painting.

    Choose a manual rowing boat for a close-up view of the waterfall, or stroll the gorge trail to enjoy its ever-changing scenery.

    Notes:

    1. This tour offers two package options: without boat ride and with boat ride. Please select according to your preference.
    2. Advance reservation is required for the boat ride. Last-minute bookings or on-site queuing cannot guarantee availability.
    3. There are many stone steps within Takachiho Gorge. The round-trip walk takes approximately 30 minutes. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. This tour is not suitable for individuals with mobility impairments.
      4.If the boat‑tour experience is suspended due to heavy rain or force majeure, we will arrange the walking‑only package and refund the corresponding package price difference.
      5.August 8 to 16, 2026 is Japan’s peak holiday season with frequent traffic jams. Do not book dinners, flights or Shinkansen on your tour day. We accept no responsibility for any missed plans caused by delays. It recommended bring a power bank. Thank you for your cooperation!
