Forget traditional tourism on a crowded boat — come see Morro de São Paulo the way few people see it: riding your own ATV along the island's inland trails.
The adventure begins at 9:40 AM at Segunda Praia, with hands-on, laid-back training. Even if you've never ridden an all-terrain vehicle before, the instructor guarantees that you'll leave feeling confident in just 15 minutes. Helmet, safety gear and travel insurance are all included.
From there, the pace is up to you. The guide leads the way through coconut groves, crossing stretches of Atlantic Forest and villages where locals wave from afar. The sound of the engine mingles with birdsong — a contrast that only makes sense when you're there.
First stop: Praia do Encanto, known as Quinta Praia. It's one of the best-preserved beaches on the island, with no tourist stands and no loud music — just clear sea and white sand for you to breathe in. Time for photos, to dip your toes in the water, or just to feel the wind.
We continue to Garapuá, a fishing village at the southern tip of Morro. Here, you have free time: you can enjoy a leisurely swim in the sea, have lunch at one of the local restaurants (fresh grilled fish, grilled lobster) or relax in a hammock among the coconut palms. You can stay in Garapuá for up to 2 hours.
The return trip is the best part — the sun starts to set, the terrain feels lighter, and you make the return journey with the sunset painting everything orange. Arrive at Segunda Praia by 5:00 PM.
