What you can expect

  • Fly across a diverse range of scenery from snow-covered peaks and ice-blue glacier fields to temperate rainforest on this scenic helicopter flight over Mount Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks. Enjoy stunning views from the air and see the beauty of Milford Sound as well as The Lord of the Rings film locations.

Your adventure begins at the helicopter take-off and landing site in Wanaka, where a friendly staff member briefs you. Then be escorted to the helicopter, where your pilot awaits you. Hop on board, take off and enjoy beautiful views of deep glacial carved valleys and rugged remote mountainous terrain.

Fly above the Shotover Valley, one of the world’s richest gold-bearing regions. Land at the remote alpine lake “Lochnagar” then view the wonders and beautify of Milford Sound, flying its entire length.

Your return flight takes you up the rugged West Coast with a landing on a remote beach. Continue home above the Olivine Ice Plateau Wilderness area and around Mt Aspiring with her stunning blue-ice glacier fields and snow covered peaks.

Enjoy a final alpine landing and photo opportunity before returning to the hangar in surrounds reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings.
