What you can expect
Enjoy a deep and enriching experience in the spiritual heart of Mexico with this walking tour of the Marian shrine of Tepeyac. We'll start with a detailed explanation of the Guadalupan Code, a symbolic and cultural message that reveals the historical importance of the apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
Then, we'll head to the outskirts of the basilica to receive the priest's blessing, a special moment for those who want to start the tour with intention and peace.
Next, we'll visit the New Basilica, where you can admire the original tilma of Juan Diego, carefully preserved on the main altar. Later, you'll get to know the Old Basilica, an architectural gem that showcases the history and passage of time in this sacred area.
The tour continues through the gardens of Tepeyac, as you ascend the hill to reach the Capilla del Cerrito, a place that commemorates the third apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe. From there, we'll start the descent through the gardens and fountains of the grounds to head to the Capilla del Pósito, where the second apparition is commemorated.
Finally, we'll arrive at the Old Chapel of the Indians, a site that honors the first apparition of the Virgin to Juan Diego, thus completing a tour full of history, culture, spirituality, and natural beauty. At the end of the tour, you'll get your tickets so you can enjoy the Guadalupano museum at your own pace. After 5 p.m., the temples and the museum start to close at different times, so it's best to take the tour before 4 p.m. if you want to see the whole place.
