What you can expect

Eat Mexico City the way someone who cooks it does. This 4-hour walking food tour is led by Chef Mauricio Urzúa — a Mexican chef, traveler and food storyteller — not a generalist guide reading a script.

Starting at the Gran Hotel Ciudad de México in the Historic Center, you'll learn how to read a taquería before your first bite. Over the next stops, taste a curated mix of classic Mexico City tacos — al pastor, tacos de canasta, carnitas, campechanos, suadero, lengua or tripa — chosen by your chef-host based on the day's best vendors. Expect up to 10 tacos in total, generous but not all-you-can-eat.

The route ends inside Mercado de San Juan, one of CDMX's most adventurous food markets. Here you'll try edible insects if you're curious, talk pre-Hispanic ingredients, and close the experience with a casual mezcal or tequila tasting — no formal lecture, just how Mexicans drink agave at the table.

This isn't a tourist taco crawl. It's a real chef walking you through his city's food culture, explaining why each stop matters and what to order long after the tour ends. You'll leave knowing how to eat Mexico City on your own.

The tour ends near San Juan Market; if you'd like, your host can walk the group toward Bellas Artes for a familiar exit point.
