At 7:00 a.m., the journey to Alta Verapaz will begin with a visit to Ranchitos del Quetzal. Afterwards, you will visit Orquigonia, a private natural reserve dedicated to the conservation of orchids. This reserve was established in 2007 in honor of Oscar Archila Euler — a native of Cobán — who began collecting orchids he found in the region’s forests. From there, you will continue to Cobán for your overnight stay

This morning, you will visit Semuc Champey, located in the municipality of Lanquín along the Cahabón River. Semuc Champey is formed by a natural limestone bridge approximately 500 meters long, under which the river flows through a tunnel-like passage known as a siguán. On top, a series of natural pools ranging from 1 to 3 meters in depth are fed by mountain springs. These pools are nestled within a small canyon made of sedimentary and limestone rock, characteristic of the highlands of the Polochic Valley. In the afternoon, you will return to Cobán for overnight accommodation.
