This 2 hour slow walking tour begins at Camara Matosinhos metro station.
From there we will reach the heart of the city, discover the patronal traditions and explore the local market, while learning about Matosinhos, Porto and Portugal History.
Gently we will make our way toward the port and the ocean, where the wide sandy beach and working port frame the story of Matosinhos as both industrial harbor and fishing community.
From here, we will follow the seaside promenade at an easy pace, moving onto the coastal walkway that runs alongside the dunes, with time to pause at a beach café, watch surfers and joggers, and notice the Atlantic wind shaping the landscape.
As we continue south toward Foz, we will get close to Forte de São Francisco Xavier, better known as Castelo do Queijo, a compact 17th‑century stone fortress perched on the rocks above the wave. The scenery will gradually shift from port and industry to elegant seaside leisure.
Here our walk will end with time to enjoy the views, take photos, and feel the Atlantic breeze against the ancient walls.
This tour is designed for tourists and local expats wishing to enjoy a nice walk and tour along the ocean while discovering the old fisherman village and its local main attractions.
Along the way, there will be breaks where you'll have the opportunity to discover the history and curiosities of Matosinhos as well as tips on gastronomy and must-see activities.
Depending on traffic, construction work and weather the tour might experience a slight change of route.
