What you can expect

Begin your adventure in the highland hamlet of Achada do Felpa, at an altitude of approximately 840 meters. Descend through lush laurel and eucalyptus forests, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of Madeira’s north coast.

Ride along forest tracks toward Boca das Voltas, where you’ll be treated to spectacular views over Madeira’s rugged coastline. Continue to the traditional village of Ribeira Funda and discover a charming 300-year-old water-powered flour mill, offering a glimpse into Madeira’s heritage.

Finally, descend all the way to sea level and arrive at the dramatic coastal spot Calhau de São Jorge. Here, the wild Atlantic and volcanic cliffs create a breathtaking natural finale to your journey.

This 28-kilometer ride is mostly off-road, with some paved sections, and includes an elevation change of approximately 600 meters climbing, followed by a descent of around 1,000 meters. The terrain is a mix of forest tracks, rugged paths, and coastal descents, offering a balanced challenge for those with some biking experience.

Choose between a full-suspension mountain bike or an e-bike for a smoother ascent and easier ride down. The tour includes a helmet and protective gear, water, transport to the start and return to base, and insurance.
