What you can expect
Are you ready for a whale and dolphin watching experience that goes beyond sightseeing?
Join us aboard Blue Safari, a custom-built, high-speed vessel designed specifically for small groups seeking a close, respectful, and meaningful encounter with Madeira’s incredible marine wildlife. Unlike large tourist boats, we limit the number of guests onboard to ensure comfort, exclusivity, and a more personal connection with nature—while minimizing our impact on the animals and their environment.
But this is not just any tour. At Blue Safari Madeira, we are a responsible company deeply committed to marine conservation and scientific research. Our tours are conducted in collaboration with marine biologists and local researchers to monitor the behavior, migration, and health of the cetaceans we encounter. By joining us, you are directly contributing to efforts to understand and protect these magnificent animals for generations to come.
Madeira is one of the best locations in the world for observing whales and dolphins, with over 20 species recorded in its waters. Our island boasts one of the highest concentrations of cetaceans in the North Atlantic, and an incredible 98% of our tours result in sightings. On any given trip, you may encounter species such as the playful Common Dolphin (Delphinus delphis), the agile Spotted Dolphin (Stenella frontalis), the intelligent Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), the majestic Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus), the social Pilot Whale (Globicephala macrorhynchus), or even the elusive Bryde’s Whale (Balaenoptera edeni).
Every tour is led by an experienced crew trained in marine wildlife observation and safety. They’ll share fascinating insights into the behavior, biology, and conservation status of the animals you encounter. Our guides are passionate about the ocean and committed to inspiring awareness and respect for marine life.
Beyond cetaceans, you might also spot sea turtles, flying fish, or a variety of seabirds soaring overhead. Each tour lasts approximately two hours and offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and biodiversity of Madeira’s waters.
When you choose Blue Safari Madeira, you’re not just going on a tour—you’re becoming part of a movement toward responsible ecotourism. Help us protect what we love while enjoying one of the most unforgettable experiences the Atlantic has to offer.
Step aboard, and let the adventure begin.
