What you can expect

  • Leave the main roads behind and discover one of the quietest and most untouched corners of Svalbard. From Longyearbyen, travel along the dramatic Arctic coastline, with mountains rising directly from the sea, before reaching the beautiful open landscape of Bjørndalen.
Once there, enjoy an easy and pleasant walk through the Arctic tundra. The walk is gentle and not too long, giving you plenty of time to slow down, take in the scenery, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Bjørndalen is a great area for wildlife encounters. Reindeer are often seen grazing across the tundra, and with a little luck you may also spot Arctic foxes, seabirds, seals, whales, or other Arctic wildlife. Wildlife is completely wild and free, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. We always observe animals from a respectful distance without disturbing their natural behavior.
During the experience, your certified guide will share stories about life in the High Arctic, the dramatic seasonal changes, and the fragile environment that makes Svalbard so unique.
The adventure also includes the opportunity to experience an authentic Arctic Polar Plunge. The plunge takes place in a safe area away from wildlife, so we can enjoy the experience without disturbing the animals. The Polar Plunge is completely optional, and there is no sauna afterwards — this is the real Arctic way!
After the walk and the plunge, warm up with hot drinks and snacks while enjoying the incredible Arctic surroundings. Bring your towel, and feel free to bring a camera or binoculars if you would like to look for wildlife.

Duration: 3.5 hours in total including transportation, wildelife spotting, gentle easy short walk, polar plunge, snack and drink, and drop off.

Transport, certified guide, easy walking experience, Arctic Polar Plunge, hot drinks, and snacks are included.
For cruise passengers, harbor pickup is available. Please select Longyearbyen Harbor as your pickup location when booking.
Come and experience the Arctic at a slower pace — nature, wildlife, and an unforgettable Polar Plunge in the wild landscapes of Svalbard.
