What you can expect
The road out of Ljubljana climbs past Lake Jasna at Kranjska Gora, then over the Vršič Pass, fifty hairpin bends through Triglav National Park on a road built by prisoners of war in WWI. On the far side the Soča appears, a river so green it looks unreal until you are standing beside it.
In Bovec the afternoon is yours to choose. One group has lunch in town, then walks to the Kozjak Waterfall, a turquoise pool hidden in a rock chamber, and visits Kobarid, where the museum tells the story of the WWI mountain front above the town. The other goes straight to the river for white water rafting with licensed raft guides, and eats after they come off the water. Everyone meets again in Bovec for the scenic drive back to Ljubljana.
We keep the group to 8 in a comfortable van so the day stays flexible, admissions and the rafting stay optional, and the same local team has run this route since 2011, today as official Gray Line Slovenia licensee. If you choose the rafting option, let us know as soon as you book, summer spots go fast.
