Discover Baoshan Stone Village, a Naxi cliffside fortress perched dramatically on a sheer cliff above the Jinsha River in Lijiang Prefecture. Carved directly into a massive rock outcrop over 1,000 years ago, this ancient village exemplifies harmony between human ingenuity and rugged natural terrain.

Explore the entire community—homes, courtyards, pathways, and even farming terraces—built into and around a single granite monolith. Walk along narrow stone alleys winding between traditional houses with tiled roofs and wooden carvings, while terraced fields cascade down the mountainside, irrigated by an intricate centuries-old water system.

Learn about Naxi culture, including Dongba script—one of the world’s last living pictographic writing systems. Hike scenic trails offering panoramic views of the Jinsha River gorge. Witness daily life in a place where traditions remain largely untouched by mass tourism.
