Join our Night Star Walk on snowshoes and explore the Finnish wilderness after dark. With over 12 years of experience operating tours in the Arctic region, this small-group evening experience from Levi takes place far from town lights, in quiet forest areas and open terrain with good conditions for stargazing and, when possible, Northern Lights sightings.
After meeting your guide in Levi, you’ll drive to a carefully selected wilderness location based on weather and sky conditions. Once there, you’ll be equipped with thermal suits, snowshoes, and hiking poles before starting the walk. The snowshoe route follows easy, natural terrain and is paced to allow time for observation, short breaks, and questions along the way.
As you move through the snowy landscape, your guide points out visible constellations and shares practical information about the Arctic environment and night sky. If the Northern Lights appear, we take our time to watch the sky, enjoy the moment, and capture photos before continuing the walk.
Midway through the walk, you’ll pause for a warm drink, biscuits, and a sandwich prepared with locally sourced ingredients. This break offers a chance to warm up, look at the sky, and enjoy the quiet surroundings before continuing the walk.
Temperatures can drop to –30°C or below, but the provided winter clothing helps keep you comfortable throughout the experience. Professional photos from the tour are included, so you can focus on the walk and the night sky without worrying about your camera.
This Night Star Walk on Snowshoes is perfect for adults who want a calm, active winter experience with expert guidance, stargazing, and the chance to see the Northern Lights away from town lights.
