The guided tour starts from Porta Napoli, the sixteenth-century gateway to this ancient city, built in Lecce stone, in memory of Charles V of Habsburg. The itinerary continues along Via Giuseppe Palmieri, passing between churches and baroque palaces until reaching Piazza del Duomo, a rare example of a “closed square”, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy which welcomes
the beautiful baroque cathedral, the bishop's palace and the seminary palace.
The itinerary winds through the streets of the ancient Roman city and then follows the main street, Piazza Sant'Oronzo, guardian of beauties such as the Roman amphitheater and the Roman column holding the statue of the protector Sant'Oronzo.
Last stops are the evocative Baroque churches of Lecce and the Basilica of Santa Croce, one of the most iconic symbols of Salento.
