The tour starts at the holiday home in Bjärdakken or at the tourist information center in Sorsele and lasts approximately 7 hours.
Our excursion into the Sámi past and present runs along the Vindelälven river. We first visit a reindeer corral (Rengärde) on the Laisälven river and then drive up the Vindelälven river towards the Sami village of Ammarnäs. On the way we stop at several historical places and find out what happened here hundreds of years ago.
For coffee we will have a campfire on the banks of the Vindelälven river. We get the water for the coffee from the river and prepare the drink of the Sami way.
In the afternoon we visit a 200-year-old Sámi “hotel complex” (Kyrkogård), the wooden church of Ammarnäs and climb the town's landmark, the potato hill (Potatisbacken). From here we have a wonderful overview of the meadows of the Ammarnäs Delta and see into the southern part of Europe's largest nature reserve, the “Vindelfjäll Nature Reserve”.
