Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Lamu or Shela. Head to Lamu Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore its narrow alleyways, coral stone houses, and carved Swahili doors. Visit the Lamu Fort, Riyadha Mosque, and Swahili Museum, learning about centuries of Arab, Persian, and African influence.
Stop at a local coffee house for Swahili tea, dates, and snacks. Enjoy a traditional Swahili seafood lunch at a seafront restaurant overlooking the dhow harbor. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. After lunch, enjoy free time to explore craft markets or relax by the beach at Shela Village.
In the afternoon, board a beautifully crafted Swahili dhow for a two-hour sunset cruise across the Lamu–Manda Channel. Sip fresh coconut juice or a chilled drink as you glide past mangroves and fishing villages. Make an optional swim stop near Manda Island, or enjoy live drumming aboard the dhow. Return to Lamu jetty and transfer to your hotel.
