What you can expect

  • Experience one of the world’s most remarkable night skies on a premium mountaintop stargazing tour at Mount John Observatory, high above Lake Tekapo.

With exclusive access to the 1,029‑metre summit, step into the heart of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, one of the best stargazing locations on Earth.

Your journey begins with a transfer to the summit. On arrival, your expert astronomers will guide you through the Southern Hemisphere sky. Start by learning to navigate the stars with the naked eye, as constellations, planets, and celestial features are brought to life using handheld lasers.

Then, go deeper with high‑powered telescopes, revealing star clusters, nebulae, distant galaxies, and more, with every night offering a unique and ever‑changing view of the universe.

Surrounded by working observatories and some of the darkest skies in the world, this immersive experience combines science, storytelling, and awe‑inspiring scenery for a truly unforgettable evening.
