Do you love Nigerian food? Or are you just interested in discovering the culture through food then this is for you!
This isn’t just a cooking class but an educational cultural immersion. Hosted by me, Aisha, a home-cook, who loves eating, cooking and teaching the beauty of Nigerian food.
We start off exploring a bustling local market in the beach neighbourhood of Oniru, where we would explore and shop for ingredients. Experience first hand bartering and the organised chaos of life as an everyday Nigerian in the market. You’ll learn about the different types of spices used in Nigerian cuisine, choose your own fresh meats, and of course get photo opportunities (hold your phone tight!)
We will then go back to the kitchen, where you’ll be taken through step by step, hands on cooking of the most popular flavours in Nigerian cuisine, with dishes like Jollof rice, Stew, Egusi, Fufu, puff puff, meat pie, Peppersoup. You’ll be guided through the best preparation methods that’ll enable you take this knowledge back to your own kitchen!
Finally, you’ll be able to take home your locally made Adire (tie-dye) apron used and a PDF recipe book containing measurements and instructions for the dishes made in the class!
