What you can expect
Activity Overview:
On this tour, you will visit Kyoto’s top highlights—including a palace, a castle, three temples, a shrine, and the famous bamboo forest—while also discovering scenic riverside routes and hidden gems, all within 6–7 hours.
Meet your guide at a rental bike shop 8 near Shijo Station (just 1.7 km away, or 3 minutes by train from Kyoto Station) and begin your journey on a comfortable e-bike (electric type). We will first visit the 17th-century Nijō Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by the Kyoto Imperial Palace, the former residence of Japan’s emperors for over 500 years. We then continue through scenic routes and local neighborhoods, offering a glimpse into everyday life in Kyoto.
Next, we visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, followed by the famous Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji), one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks. After that, we take a flexible lunch break in Arashiyama.
In the afternoon, we visit Tenryuji Temple and its 700-year-old Sōgenchi Garden, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. We then head to the Arashiyama area to explore the Bamboo Forest and enjoy its beautiful natural surroundings.
Along the way, we also visit hidden gems such as Katsura riverside and Kyoto’s oldest temple, Kōryūji. This tour offers a well-balanced and engaging experience, combining Kyoto’s must-see highlights with lesser-known spots.
The tour lasts approximately 6–7 hours and ends at the original meeting point.
Your Journey Includes:
• Electric bike rental and helmet
• Entrance tickets
• Bike parking fees
• Bilingual guide (English & Japanese)
• One bottle of mineral water
About the Operator:
This tour is operated by Jawad, who has been living in Japan since 2011 and has guided over 200 tours for international guests. With a background in Computer Science, he has worked for over 10 years as a researcher in Japan and has lived in several cities, including Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kyoto. He has also spent time in the USA and Canada as a research visitor.
Combining local expertise with international experience, he aims to create tours that connect culture, people, and real experiences.
After working in tourism part-time, he noticed that many tours focus on only one area or highlight. This inspired him to design a more complete and meaningful experience—bringing together a palace, a castle, temples, shrines, and hidden gems in one journey.
His goal is to make Japanese tourism more enjoyable while offering a deeper understanding of Kyoto’s culture, which is often not immediately visible. He also believes that cycling is one of the most eco-friendly and enjoyable ways to explore the city.
Important Information:
• In case of rain, the tour may be canceled or conducted with rain gear. If canceled by the operator, customers will receive a full refund
• Lunch not included. We will stop near Kitano Tenmangu; your guide will recommend options
• Please ensure you are comfortable riding a bicycle
• For safety, follow the guide’s instructions throughout the tour
