What you can expect

Discover the hidden mountain side of Montenegro on a small-group Jeep tour starting from Kotor. This off-road experience takes you away from the busy waterfront and into the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor’s hillside villages, forests and viewpoints that most travelers never see.

After meeting in Kotor, we drive along the scenic coastal road toward Donji Stoliv, passing stone houses, small docks, fishing boats and traditional “konoba” restaurants that reveal the bay’s maritime culture. From here the adventure turns uphill toward Gornji Stoliv, following a quiet mountain road through a centuries-old chestnut forest. The asphalt becomes gravel, offering a light off-road experience and exclusive access to a private route used only by locals and Jeeps.

On arrival at Gornji Stoliv, we explore the hidden medieval stone village on foot. Your guide explains how families once lived here, moving seasonally between mountain and coast. We follow narrow 14th-century paths between abandoned houses, olive groves and terraced gardens, with panoramic views of the Bay of Kotor below. The highlight is the Church of St. Elijah, a historic 13th-century stone church with a tall bell tower and stunning mountain-to-sea scenery. This church is normally closed to the public, and our guide provides exclusive access for a private visit inside.

After exploring the village, we take a relaxing food break on a shaded terrace in the chestnut forest with open bay views. Here we taste traditional local products such as homemade prosciutto, cheese, olives, fresh bread and seasonal natural juices like pomegranate or rose petal syrup. This peaceful stop offers a real connection to Montenegro’s rural flavors and hospitality.

The descent leads back to the coast and continues toward Verige, the narrowest point of the Bay of Kotor. From this scenic viewpoint guests can photograph the town of Perast and the famous islands Our Lady of the Rocks and St. George. The route then continues around the bay to Tivat before climbing toward Trojica for a final panorama over the entire Kotor basin, with an optional stop at a small local souvenir shop.

The tour ends with a downhill drive back to Kotor, completing a circular route that combines culture, history, nature and food in one afternoon. Perfect for travelers seeking an authentic experience beyond standard bus tours, with exclusive access, scenic drives and unforgettable viewpoints in the Bay of Kotor.
