What you can expect

The tour begins in Kotor, where guests board the Jeep and leave the old town behind. A short drive takes us to the first panoramic viewpoint above the city, known as Trojica, overlooking the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor, its medieval walls, and the surrounding mountains. From here we continue along historic Austro-Hungarian serpentines built in the late 19th century, offering constant scenic views as we climb toward our next stop: Fort Gorazda.

At Gorazda, guests explore one of the best-preserved Austro-Hungarian fortifications in Montenegro. Built for coastal defense and later used during WWII, the fort offers a mix of history, military architecture, and open views across the bay. There is time for photos, walking around the fortress grounds, and learning about the strategic importance of the Vrmac ridge throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

From Gorazda we cross directly into Vrmac Nature Park, a protected mountain area separating Tivat Bay from Kotor Bay. We stop near Fort Vrmac for a short break, with time to enjoy the forest setting and the silence of the mountain. The tour then continues with an off-road section leading to one of the most impressive viewpoints on the ridge, overlooking Kotor’s old town, the serpentine road to Lovćen, and the dramatic limestone peaks behind the bay.

Next, we head to a peaceful picnic location with views of Tivat Bay. Here guests enjoy typical Montenegrin “nac” snacks such as local prosciutto, cheese, olives, and fresh bread, served in a natural setting away from tourist crowds. It’s a relaxing moment that connects the outdoor experience with local flavors and scenery.

After the picnic, the tour continues along a panoramic off-road route following an old Austro-Hungarian path toward the summit of St. Ilija (Sveti Ilija), the highest point on the Vrmac massif. This section offers sweeping views in all directions, with the sea on both sides of the mountain ridge, old stone walls, pine forests, and military observation posts from past centuries.

Finally, we begin our return to Kotor, driving down the historic Austro-Hungarian road with scenic views until we reach the bay again. The tour ends back at the starting point, completing a circular route that combines mountain nature, history, military heritage, panoramic viewpoints, and local food—all in one off-road adventure.
