Overview

Kobe is famous for its high-quality Kobe beef—but this beautiful port city offers much more. It’s home to Japan’s largest sake-producing area, one of the oldest hot spring towns, and scenic views of both the sea and mountains.

On this full-day private tour, a local guide will take you around Kobe in a comfortable 6-seater van. The route is planned to efficiently cover cultural spots, local neighborhoods, and scenic areas. Expect short walks, photo stops, and smooth drives.

Kobe is less crowded than Kyoto or Osaka, offering a more relaxed and pleasant sightseeing experience.

Lunch is not included, but your guide will suggest local restaurants based on your taste. If you want to try Kobe beef, we recommend booking it in advance as an optional add-on, since many restaurants are often full and may require waiting.

This tour is also ideal for cruise ship passengers arriving at Kobe Port, with convenient pickup and a flexible, stress-free itinerary.

Activity itinerary

Meriken Park
  • 30m
We’ll visit Meriken Park, a waterfront area home to some of Kobe’s most iconic landmarks — including the striking Kobe Port Tower, the popular BE KOBE monument perfect for photos, and a preserved structure from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that serves as a powerful reminder of the city’s resilience.
The Former Foreign Settlement of Kobe (Pass by)
We’ll also drive through the Former Foreign Settlement, a historical district that once housed Western merchants and diplomats after Kobe opened its port in the 19th century. While we won’t stop, you’ll get a glimpse of the elegant Western-style architecture that still remains today, offering a unique contrast to the city’s modern skyline.
Kitano Ijinkan-gai
  • 1h
Kitano Ijinkan District is a charming area where Western merchants and diplomats settled after Kobe opened its port in the late 19th century. The neighborhood is known for its beautifully preserved Western-style houses, some of which are open to the public as museums. It’s a unique place where you can experience the blend of European architecture and Japanese history.
Kobe
  • 1h 30m
Lunch will be on your own in downtown Kobe. Based on your preferences, your guide can recommend restaurants that suit your taste. Please note that the cost of lunch is not included in the tour. If you’d like to try Kobe beef, we recommend adding it as an optional pre-booked experience.
Nadano Sakagura
  • 1h 30m
Kobe is known as the largest sake (Japanese rice wine) producing area in Japan. In a district called Nada Gogo, you'll find a concentration of historic sake breweries. During the tour, we’ll visit one or two of these breweries, where you can learn about the traditional sake-making process and enjoy tasting freshly brewed sake.
Arima Onsen
  • 1h 30m
We’ll also explore Arima Onsen, one of Japan’s oldest and most famous hot spring towns. You can stroll through the charming streets, browse traditional crafts and local souvenirs, and if you wish, enjoy a relaxing soak in a hot spring bath. There’s also a free foot bath available if you prefer a quick, casual experience.
Mt. Rokko
  • 30m
If time allows, we may also visit Mount Rokko, which offers stunning panoramic views over Kobe, the bay, and even as far as Osaka on a clear day. It’s a scenic optional stop that adds a touch of nature and breathtaking landscapes to the tour.
