Step back in time to the splendour of the 15th century as you feast like nobility in the heart of this historic castle. Sean, Lord of Clancullen, was renowned for his lavish parties and royal entertainment, a reputation that surpassed even that of his father. We are delighted to honour this tradition of entertainment and hospitality today at Knappogue Castle.
Surrounded by the flickering glow of candlelight and the sounds of traditional music, you'll be treated to an evening of authentic medieval entertainment and a sumptuous banquet. Let the spirit of the past guide you through an unforgettable experience that blends storytelling, song, and the rich heritage of Knappogue Castle.
You will be greeted at the main door of the castle by the Earl’s Butler and the Ladies of the castle, before proceeding to the Dalcassian Hall. Mingle with the Castle Entertainers and savour a goblet of mead (honey wine). Enjoy the sounds of the harp and fiddle, followed by medieval choral singing from the Ladies. The Earl’s Butler will then witfully recount the history of the Castle, concluding with an explanation of the ‘Rules of Chivalry’ followed at Knappogue Castle and the severe consequences of breaching them.
The banquet begins at 18:30, and it is recommended to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time.
