What you can expect
Embark on an unforgettable adventure that will let you experience Venice from a completely new, authentic and deeply sustainable perspective. This kayaking excursion from Burano is the perfect opportunity to leave the historic center behind and immerse yourself in the natural, tranquil side of the lagoon, paddling through a unique wetland ecosystem. It is a way to enjoy outdoor sports in an exceptional natural setting, discovering a side of Venice still unknown to mass tourism.
Your experience will begin on the canals of colorful Burano, a true “miniature Venice” that was historically an outpost of skilled fishermen. The magic of paddling among its houses in a thousand colors is comparable to that of the canals of Venice, but with one crucial advantage: there are no dangers from the traffic of the Grand Canal. You'll be able to admire Burano from the water, an intimate and privileged vantage point that few are lucky enough to experience. With little effort, you will soon find yourself in the midst of vast and little-known nature, leaving behind the bustle and noise of motorboats to immerse yourself in the silence and gentle sounds of nature. You will be led by Filippo, a super friendly, passionate and knowledgeable guide, born and raised in these parts. Filippo will provide you with wonderful, in-depth explanations, revealing the distinctive features of this fragile environment, suspended between land and sea, and helping you understand the delicate interaction between man and nature that has shaped these places for centuries.
As you continue, your kayak – a lightweight, flat-bottomed craft – will allow you to venture into areas otherwise inaccessible to motorboats, passing along shallow canals. You will venture among the ghebi and barene, the fascinating islands that emerge with their vegetation only at low tide. Among these “freaks of nature,” you'll be able to spot rich local wildlife, such as herons, cormorants and egrets, and you'll have the chance to meet moeche fishermen (fishermen who catch crabs during their molting phase), witnessing a centuries-old activity in harmony with the environment.
One unique experience you will have is discovering this lagoon ecosystem, the salt marshes . The same ecosystem on which the stilts that support the towns of Venice and Burano rest, making the experience a true indissoluble interweaving of city and natural environment.
This trip is a unique opportunity to discover the true natural environment in which Venice is immersed, away from the usual tourist routes. A kayak is a simple craft to maneuver, suitable even for those who are not particularly experienced in this sport.
This kayaking tour is a 100% sustainable and respectful* choice for this enchanting ecosystem, offering an authentic perspective and an unforgettable experience.
