What you can expect

  • Join John, your new history teacher, on a journey through the first capital of the samurai! On this tour, he'll weave a story for you that will bring you right back into those ancient times. Valiant samurai, vicious betrayals, and Zen stoicism abound on this tour! Plus, on the private tour, you'll get high-quality photos taken of you and your family! I use the Nikon Z50II and 18-140mm for photos on this tour.

    Engaku-ji Temple: Dive into the history of Zen Buddhism and its impact on Japanese politics and art.

    Shojin-Ryori Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Buddhist monk's meal (Standard for 8-hour, by request for 4-hour).

    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine: Explore the epicenter of Kamakura-period samurai politics and religious practice.

    The Great Buddha (Daibutsu): Stand before one of Japan's most beautiful and massive bronze statues.
